Who should attend? This course is an IHCD award, designed to give those involved in pre-hospital care the vital knowledge and techniques necessary to manage the ill or injured casualty within the first few minutes until handover to a medical service.
Course outline:
The First Person on Scene course is a one day course which consists of:

The Pre-Hospital Environment
•
Patient Assessment
•
Respiration and Airway Management
•
Basic Life Support
•
Defibrillation
•
Circulation and Shock
•
Medical Related Emergencies
•
Trauma Related Emergencies
Duration: 1 day
Assessment and certification: After completing a practical assessment successful candidate receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years.

Who should attend?
This course is an IHCD award, designed to give increased knowledge and skills to those involved in pre-hospital care to help enable them to better manage the ill or injured casualty within the first few minutes until handover to a medical service.
Entry
requirements
All applicants should be able to show, as a minimum, evidence of first aid training undertaken (First Aid at Work or equivalent standard).

The First Person on Scene course is a one day course which consists of:

Primary survey
•
Safe moving and handling
•
Respiration and airway management
•
Oro-pharyngeal airways
•
Oxygen supplementation
•
Basic life support adult and paediatric
•
Defibrillation
•
Heart rhythms
•
Circulation and shock
•
Medical and trauma related emergencies
•
Assisting the paramedic.
Duration:
30 hours (5 days)
